A driver has said she was left stranded by the side of a road for about two hours after her tyre burst when she hit a large pothole.

Becky Broadley, from Daventry, said she was travelling on the B4038 between Kilsby in Northamptonshire and Hillmorton, Warwickshire, at about 19:30 GMT on Friday when "my tyre just went bang".

She said due to the rain and it being so dark, she did not see the hole before she hit it.

About nine other cars were also stranded, and a mobile tyre fitter was called out to carry out repairs to a number of vehicles, meaning she eventually got home at about 21:30, she said.

Broadley said she had used the road regularly and it has "been awful for a while".

"I was on the way to the cinema, with my mum, Sarah, when we hit the hole."

She said she called Northamptonshire Police but officers did not attend. The BBC has approached the force for comment.

She said to help others, someone parked their car over the hole and then a cone was placed over it.

On the tyre fitter, who was called out by another driver but then fixed several other cars, she said: "He was fantastic and so helpful to everyone affected."
