Jersey's Mental Health Recovery Hub has launched a new website to make getting help more accessible for islanders.

As part of Health and Care Jersey's Mental Health Service, it said the Recovery Hub would offer free educational courses and activities which were developed based on people's experiences of mental illness.

It said the courses aimed to support people with their mental and physical health, as well as personal recovery, hoping to build their confidence and develop new skills through shared learning and empowerment "rather than clinical treatment".

Health and Care Jersey managing director Andy Weir said the service was an "all-island approach to improving mental health and wellbeing".

He said: "The hub aligns with our all-age mental health strategy, which was launched earlier this year, and focuses on prevention, early intervention and supporting people to improve their wellbeing and recovery - including creating new connections for people.

"By working in partnership with people who have lived experience and offering free, accessible courses, the hub helps to reduce stigma, build resilience and tackle inequalities in access to support."

The Recovery Hub said it provided a range of support, including creative and physical activities, educational sessions and opportunities to speak with those who had lived experience of mental health.

Katie Taylor, lead mental health social Worker and head of rehab services, encouraged "anyone who feels they could benefit to explore the wide range of free, inclusive courses available".

She said: "The courses have been co-designed with people who have lived experience of mental health challenges.

"These courses provide practical tools to build confidence, develop new skills and connect with others, helping individuals take positive steps towards their recovery and wellbeing."
