More than 1,000 motorcyclists gathered for a charity ride raising money and awareness for men's mental health and prostate cancer research.

Riders taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride set off from Poole Quay on Sunday before travelling through Bournemouth, Christchurch and the surrounding areas.

The global event sees participants dress in smart clothing while riding classic and vintage-style motorbikes in support of men's health charity Movember.

Founded 15 years ago in Sydney, Australia, the annual ride now takes place in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The Dorset ride began at Poole Quay at 10:00 BST before passing through Sandbanks, Westbourne, Bournemouth Pier, Southbourne, Christchurch High Street and Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum.

Organisers thanked everyone involved in the event in a post on social media.

They said: "What a fantastic day! Thank you so much to all our volunteers, marshals, photographers, riders and spectators. We couldn't have done it without you."

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride has partnered with Movember since 2016, raising funds to support prostate cancer research and mental health programmes.

The event is open to all genders, with participants riding classic or custom-style motorcycles and scooters.

Organisers said the annual ride aimed to unite riders while helping change the face of men's health.
