Man killed next to pub was stabbed, police say
ADRIAN HARMS/BBCPolice have confirmed that a man who died in an alleyway next to a pub in Surrey was in his 20s and had been stabbed.
The man was found seriously injured next to the Wheatsheaf pub in Kingston Road, Ewell, at about 15:30 GMT on Tuesday.
He was treated for his injuries by paramedics but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Anyone who was in the area around Kingston Road between 15:20 and 15:30 on Tuesday, or has footage of the incident, is asked to come forward.
Det Ch Insp Kimball Edey, leading the investigation, said: "I know there has been concern and speculation in the local community about the events of [Tuesday] afternoon, and I would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation while we carry out our enquiries.
"Our officers are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances that led to this sad death, and you will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as we seek to bring those responsible to justice."
Kingston Road and Chessington Road which were closed while detectives carried out the investigation have since reopened.
