Driver crashes car after being stabbed

A driver who crashed his car was found to have stab wounds from an earlier incident.

Officers were called to Hexthorpe Road in Doncaster at 05:30 GMT to reports of a single vehicle collision.

The driver had knife injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

South Yorkshire Police said he was hurt at a property on the same street and a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. He remains in custody.

Road closures remain in place around St James's Bridge, near Doncaster city centre.

The force has asked anyone with any information about the incident to contact officers.
