Gas price in the Ten Towns area will fall by just over 10% in April

Firmus Energy says its gas price in the Ten Towns area will fall by just over 10% in April - equivalent to £92 a year for a typical customer.

The price cut follows a review by the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator.

The regulator imposes price controls on the major incumbent suppliers - electricity firm Power NI; SSE Gas in Belfast and the west; and Firmus in the Ten Towns network.

The Ten Towns area includes Antrim, Armagh, Banbridge, Ballymena, Coleraine, Craigavon, Newry, Londonderry and more than 25 other towns and villages in the surrounding area.

The price reviews for Firmus and SSE were completed before the current spike in wholesale gas prices triggered by the US attack on Iran.

Before the conflict began wholesale prices had come down from the extreme highs reached after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Colin Broomfield, director of markets at the Utility Regulator said: "The conflict has impacted gas prices globally, which have risen sharply over the last few days.

"We expect that wholesale gas prices will remain volatile while the conflict continues. We will continue to monitor the regulated tariffs over the coming weeks."

Firmus previously lowered its gas tariff by 7.86% last October and by 11.84% in April 2025.

Ryan Miskimmin, sales director at Firmus Energy said: "Since April last year, our consecutive reductions have decreased our tariffs by 27% with a cumulative saving of around £300 per customer."

The Greater Belfast Network area tariff is also currently under review by the company.
