A road has been partially closed after a sinkhole appeared in a residential area.

The hole on Tredworth Road, Gloucester, is a metre wide and half a metre deep, Gloucestershire Constabulary said.

Road closures were put in place in at the junctions with Hatherley Road, the High Street and Nelson Street.

They are likely to remain in place overnight and into the morning to allow for repairs.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
