Firms announce regular inter-island ferries
Brittany FerriesTwo ferry companies have announced plans to provide inter-island services between Guernsey and Jersey from next month.
Brittany Ferries and Islands Unlimited said its collaboration would help "boost passenger numbers".
Under the new agreement, Island Unlimited's services will run for up to five-days a week service between the islands, operating March through to October, and will be available through Brittany Ferries reservations and website.
Director of sales and marketing for Brittany Ferries Paul Acheson described the agreement as a "practical and workable solution that strengthens inter-island connectivity."
Acheson said:"[It] supports two-centre holidays, bringing our customers closer to the Islands and delivering clear benefits for local tourism."
Brittany Ferries currently operates an inter-island service on Wednesdays.
Clubs on the islands said the single weekly ferry service between Jersey and Guernsey had been "devastating" for inter-island competitions.
In 2024, the States of Guernsey announced it had picked Brittany Ferries as its preferred company to run its ferry routes, while Government of Jersey chose DFDS following a number of offers from other businesses.
Managing director of Islands Unlimited Chad Murray said last summer demonstrated the demand for a "dependable inter-island service".
"Partnering with Brittany Ferries allows us to grow with confidence, reach a wider audience and provide a service that passengers can trust throughout the season," he said.
The company said the partnership builds on the "success" of its launch last summer and marked its first full season of operations.
By booking through Brittany Ferries, it added it would give the service "exposure to the company's customer base across the UK, France, Spain and Ireland".
Acheson said the company was keen to bring the islands of Bailiwick "closer together by teaming up with local operators serving Herm, Sark and Alderney".
"This will enable through services from the UK and France and help strengthen the regional transport network around the Channel Islands," he said.
