In pictures: Seaside arts festival comes to a close

A seaside arts festival celebrating creativity, culture and community in a coastal town has come to a close.

The Arts by the Sea Festival returned to Bournemouth for its 14th year on Friday.

The event, which had visual art, music and dance in locations across the seafront, celebrated the theme of "taste".

The festival finished with fireworks and a bonfire in a display called The Honey Pot at the East Cliff Zig Zag beach on Sunday evening.

The free-to-attend festival is funded by Arts Council England.

Andrea Francis, festival director, said it was a "tremendous success".

She said: "The vibrant energy and creativity on display throughout the event were nothing short of inspiring.

"Festival-goers embraced the diverse range of performances and installations, making the most of every moment."

She added that the torchlit trail on Saturday had a "magical atmosphere" and despite bad weather on Sunday they were able to successfully readjust the event's schedule.

Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for culture at BCP Council, said: "This festival is a celebration of the rich cultural tapestry that defines Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole."
