Man dies after e-scooter crash near nightclub

An e-scooter rider who was seriously injured when he and his pillion passenger came off the vehicle has died.

The electric scooter crashed near Popworld nightclub in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, at about 01:55GMT on 5 January.

The rider, a man in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries. Police said he died in hospital on Monday afternoon.

His passenger, a man in his 30s suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Mike Burt of Dorset Police Serious Collision Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the young man who sadly died following this incident."

The force said it was still investigating and urged witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
