People are being asked to submit stories, photos and videos of the Riverside Shopping Centre

People with memories of Shrewsbury's former Riverside Shopping Centre are being invited to share their memories, photos and stories of it, as part of a legacy project celebrating the site's history.

It will culminate in Riverside Remembered, an exhibition set to open at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in January 2027, which will explore the effect the centre had culturally, socially and commercially.

The shopping centre was demolished in 2024, and the land will be home to the Smithfield Riverside project, which will include a public park.

An online portal has been created for the public to share photos, videos and memories, which will contribute to the exhibition.

The centre was once advertised as "the only shopping in the town with mass car parking".

Shrewsbury's Big Town Partnership is keen to hear from people who were involved with or remember key aspects of its history.

Reminiscence groups will also be held in early 2026 which will contribute to the exhibition

This includes events at the former Tiffany's Nightclub, known later as Park Lane and various other names before closing its doors permanently in 2017.

Events held there included a performance by The Stone Roses and Miss Shropshire beauty pageants.

The site was also home to the Riverside Medical Practice on Roushill, which was open from 1987 to 2008, and for many years the Chanticleer restaurant.

The town partnership will also hold a series of reminiscence groups in early 2026, for people to contribute their memories and mementos for the upcoming exhibition.
