Drug dealer admits trying to crash police car

A drug dealer has admitted trying to crash a police car on a dual carriageway.

Charlie Storkey, 20, was being transported to Essex by officers when the car made a sudden stop on the A47 near Norwich on 6 October, Norfolk Police said.

Storkey, of Beverley Road, Norwich, has pleaded guilty to attempting to cause danger to road users by interfering with a motor vehicle, but charges of attempted murder have been dropped.

At Norwich Crown Court, he has also admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin and will be sentenced in February.

The car made a sudden stop on the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass, between the Trowse A146 and Ipswich Road A140 junctions, Norfolk Police said.

Storkey was originally charged with two counts of attempted murder after the incident.

A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said after a review of the case there was "not enough evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction" for attempted murder and those charges have been dropped.

"We have a duty to ensure every prosecution is effective, independent, and fair," they said.
