Catch-up clinics open for pupils who missed flu jabs

Catch-up vaccination clinics are being held in Wolverhampton for pupils who missed their free vaccine in school and for pupils educated at home.

All children from reception to Year 11 are eligible for the free vaccination in school, and city schools are being visited twice, the council said.

Appointments can be booked for the clinics at Biz Space in Planetary Road, Bingley Family Hub in Norfolk Road, Graiseley Family Hub in Pool Street and Whitmore Reans Family Hub in Lansdowne Road from 29 October until 22 November.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and community, said: "The vaccination is quick and safe, and it's also needle-free for most children because it can be given via a nasal spray, rather than via injection."

Each clinic runs from 09:00 to 13:00 BST, and children who require a pork gelatine-free alternative or who are unable to have the nasal spray for medical reasons can have an injectable vaccination, the council said.
