Markets react with volatility ahead of Trump Iran deadline
Jeff Grills, Head of US Cross Markets and Emerging Markets Debt at Aegon Asset Management, told BBC's Samira Hussain about investor sentiment on the market. Global crude prices have risen ahead of US President Donald Trump's deadline for Iran to open the crucial Strait of Hormuz shipping route.
Iran says key infrastructure on Kharg Island and two bridges have been hit in strikes by the US and Israel, as President Donald Trump warned that 'a whole civilisation will die' if Tehran fails to meet a deadline of 20:00 EDT on Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The attacks came as Iran's Revolutionary Guards threatened to cut off oil and gas to the US and its allies if Washington crossed what Tehran called its red lines.
