Singing Experience
Used to be a clubland singer, now sings with a group he set up at Dewsbury Hospital

Jim is a life member at Batley Bulldogs and a passionate Rugby League supporter in general. He regiments the match day car parking at Batley on a voluntary basis with “gaffer” emblazoned on his hi-vis jacket, bringing much needed financial support to our small family-oriented club.

He can also be seen helping on various ground maintenance projects around the Fox’s Biscuit Stadium (supporting the efforts of CEO Paul Harrison). Jim loves his club, which he has proudly and loyally supported for over 75 years, with his family being involved with Batley Bulldogs since 1910.

In 2014 he suffered a bout of pneumonia, which left him hospitalised for 10 days. As a thank you to the staff at Dewsbury Hospital, he set up a singing group for patients of the respiratory clinic called ‘Singspiration’. The group meets every week and Jim even organises outings, which always result in heaps of laughter!

I could not think of a more worthy person who would grace the Rugby League Challenge Cup choir at Wembley, representing his generation and his club, and who engenders the true spirit of the wider Rugby League community.
