I have a twin brother who supports Hull FC. When the two teams met in the 1980 Challenge Cup final and the mighty red and whites beat them 10-5, he was so upset he would not travel back with the Rovers supporters on the organised train. Bless him.

When Abide With Me was sung, my dad stood to attention and his eyes filled up with pride – as did mine.

Also, I went to my first game over 50 years ago with my father and to 18 Challenge Cup finals with him. When Abide With Me was sung he stood to attention and his eyes filled up with pride – as did mine.

To this day I still love singing Abide With Me as it brings back the memory of my dad who passed away in 1981.

It would fill me with pride to perform for him with the choir.
