Newcastle Thunder

Kevin is an absolute charmer, a delight to know and a Thunder super-fan through and through! He has been around since the early days (when it was Gateshead Thunder) and is a great advocate for the game.

He follows Thunder home and away and is regularly seen wandering among the opposition fans mid-game, making new friends and having a sing-a-long. There is never a game after which he is not on Facebook saying what a great time he had posing for selfies with anyone who will have him. He always stays after the game for the manager’s post-match updates and to have a chat with the players. Whether we win or lose, he always finds something positive to say to support the squad.

He sings a variety of entertaining songs and is usually the leading voice in the chant of ‘Come on Thunder!’ if a game is slowing or the score not going our way. He is great with the young fans and encourages them to sing along also. As mum of a teenage player and member of a local community club, it is his example of behaviour that I am grateful for my children to see and emulate. He is very supportive of the community game and shows interest in their development, telling them he is waiting to see who will ‘make it’ and who might play for his beloved Thunder.

I do say he sings, didn’t say he could; as it’s not always in tune or to a particular beat, but it wouldn’t be a Thunder game without him!
