Singing Experience	Clubland singer since 1976, 5 winters in Tenerife and several lead roles in musicals.

Known as ‘The Singing Ref’ due to my years as a Rugby League referee and clubland entertainer, I have been asked to apply by many friends.

As much as I would have loved to represent my home town, my destiny was a different role – that of a referee.

I have been watching Castleford RL for 60 years and have seen many great players in that time. As a result, I developed a love and passion for the game. As much as I would have loved to have played for my home town, my destiny was a different role – that of a referee. I was honoured to serve as a Senior Referee from 1982 to 1994. In this time, I had the privilege to take the field with many great players and was elected President of the Senior Referees for the 1989/90 season.

I was a member of the Daily/Sunday Mirror Rugby League Roadshow, which raised many thousands of pounds for players’ benefits. I have also raised thousands of pounds for various charities over the years, such as Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Since 1990, I have had the honour of being Secretary of the Castleford RL Players’ Association alongside our distinguished President Alan Hardisty and now Chairman Barry Johnson.
