I may not be the most fanatical fan or do the most for my club, but I am the most grateful of it. My story starts with the diagnosis of skin cancer. I kept my condition from most of my family and friends, as I did not want to have people pointing or feeling sorry for me.
It is not just about the matches on game day – it is so much more!
My daughter raised money for cancer charities by having her head shaved at Belle Vue, which was filmed by Sky. Nobody was watching the band at half time as they were all in the Cats bar watching the shave! As she ran back onto the pitch I was so proud.
We have gone to games as a whole family, watched my son, Will, playing with Jordy Crowther and Max Jowitt (now first team regulars) in the academy and daughter, Kate, dancing with the cheerleading squads - Kittens and now Trinity X. The club family days and the many fayres where she has danced are too many to mention, making countless friends along the way. Trinity even got us ladies dancing on the pitch after Race For Life.
The banter at school after games and the privilege of watching my students play for the academy sides, seeing them progress and cheering them on has been so special. It is not just about the matches on game day – it is so much more!
We go to every game and over the last few years, my daughter and I have made some incredible friends who we now call our away day family aka “nutters on the bus”. You will know them because they are always in amazing fancy dress at the big events.
I want to sing as I stopped for a while; for Trinity and their die-hard fans who unknown to them have helped us so very much.
