Ground-based solar farm approved in Jersey

Jersey's Planning Committee has approved an application for a third ground-based solar farm.

The scheme was put forward by Jersey Electricity (JE) and will be sited on farmland near the La Mare Wine Estate.

JE said it would generate power "equivalent to the annual consumption of over half the homes" in the Parish of St Mary.

A solar farm scheme near Sorel was also approved in principle two weeks ago.
