The National Trust for Jersey has taken over the site

Many islanders want to retain a car park at Greve de Lecq rather than seeing it turned over to nature, according to the head of the National Trust for Jersey.

Chief executive Alan Le Maistre said he had a "feeling from the correspondence we have had that the car park is an important element".

The trust runs the site, and was given the former cafe by the States.

The car park had been "completely rammed" over the first Easter weekend which he said "shows the importance of that asset".

He added he was "open-minded" on its future.
