Ideas sought on future of former Jersey cafe site

Jersey people are being offered the chance to have their say on the future of a former cafe site.

The derelict Cafe Romany at Greve de Lecq is has been given to the National Trust for Jersey by the Government of Jersey, which paid £3.6m for the site.

The trust re-opened the car park at Easter after it had remained closed for years in private ownership.

Now the organisation has launched a consultation on the future of the whole site.

Questions include asking how the car park should be developed, or if it should be returned to nature.

"The site is being gifted to the trust, subject to the condition that we deliver environmental, cultural and social benefits for the public," said Alan Le Maistre, chief executive of the National Trust for Jersey.

"There are many ways that this could be achieved and several initial decisions that need to be made."
