Watch: Fire engulfs petrol station as man arrested

Onlookers filmed the moment people fled after as a fire engulfed a petrol station.

The incident happened on Broom Way in Lee-on-the-Solent at about 11:15 GMT on Thursday.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said a 51 year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. An axe was found at the scene.

He remains in hospital receiving treatment for life changing injuries.

The fire was put out by firefighters and no other injuries were reported.
