Royal Mail pledges to improve Kent delivery targets

Royal Mail has assured households in Kent that delivery targets will be improved after a widespread recruitment drive in the run-up to Christmas.

In July, Ofcom announced small changes to its targets for first-class mail from 93% to 90% delivered next-day, and for second-class mail from 98.5% to 95% delivered within three days.

Recent statistics show Tonbridge (67.2%) and Maidstone (63.3%) postcodes saw slight declines in deliveries within those timeframes compared to the previous year, whereas Canterbury (75%) and Dartford (66.6%) saw improvements.

Royal Mail said it had recruited hundreds of permament and temporary staff to address the issue.
