Moment teacher accused of abusing and murdering baby wails in hospital

A teacher accused of sexually abusing and murdering a baby he had adopted collapsed to the ground after being told the 13-month-old wouldn't survive, new footage shows.

Jamie Varley, 37, who wailed for his own mother, was recorded on police body-worn cameras at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, where he had taken baby Preston Davey.

Varley can be heard pleading with hospital doctors to "kill me" after being told Preston was not going to survive.

Varley's partner, 32-year-old John McGowan-Fazakerley, is accused of sexual abuse and allowing Preston's death.

Both men deny the charges at Preston Crown Court and their trial will resume on Thursday.
