The 81-year-old barber cutting hair since 1968

An 81-year-old barber who has been cutting the hair of generations of families for nearly 60 years says he does not plan to hang up his scissors anytime soon.

Paul Robinson started working at his Lark Lane salon in the Aigburth area of south Liverpool in January 1968, when the area was "very, very like a village", he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"The old police station was open so I cut a lot of bobbies' hair."

Other previous clients included the likes of Liverpool FC legend Ian Callaghan and members of local bands including The Christians and The Real People.

Paul still has the original waiting bench in his shop.

He said: "Recently I've been having people coming to the shop, looking through the window, and saying 'Paul is that still you? It's 40 years since I've sat on that board'.

"Recently a lad came in - I used to do his dad's hair, I used to do his hair and now I'm doing his son's hair.

"That's three generations of hair!"
