Watch: Thousands watch annual Soapbox Derby
Thousands of people turned out in Billericay to watch its annual Soapbox Derby.
From pirate ships to windmills, about 25 homemade carts ran the gauntlet downhill on London Road, in the Essex town, swerving bales of hay and going over jumps.
The organiser, Billericay Rotary Club, told the BBC how Sunday's derby had raised more than £250,000 for charity over the years.
Local teacher Gillian Welch, who piloted a cart on behalf of Brightside Primary School, said it was "a brilliant event" for the town.
