Driver leads police on high-speed pursuit

A dangerous driver who lost his rear number plate during a high-speed pursuit in Peterborough has been jailed for 12 months.

Cambridgeshire Police said Yaser Faruk, 33, from Peterborough, was seen by officers travelling at speed in Mayors Walk, West Town, at about 02:40 GMT on 19 November.

Faruk refused to stop for officers, reached speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone, drove on the wrong side of the road and ignored road signs.

He plead guilty at Peterborough Magistrates' Court last week to dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified and driving without a licence. He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
