A man has been jailed after he hit a member of hotel staff in the face with a Bible.
William Poyning, 45, of no fixed address, was asked by management to leave the Bull Hotel, in Westgate, Peterborough, on 12 February, due to a different incident late last year.
Cambridgeshire Police said Poyning was escorted to an exit but became violent, hitting the staff member in the face with a Bible. The victim had a cut on his nose and bite marks on a finger.
Poyning was sentenced to nine months in prison at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
PC Jess Broome said: "Poyning's behaviour was aggressive and intimidating as he lashed out with the Bible and attacked someone who was simply doing their job."
