A170 at Pickering closed after serious two-vehicle crash

Drivers in North Yorkshire were warned to avoid the A170 near Pickering due to a serious two-vehicle collision.

The road was closed in both directions between the Thornton Road Industrial Estate at Newbridge and Greengate Lane, outside Thornton le-Dale, just before 08:00 BST on Wednesday.

Emergency services are at the scene and North Yorkshire Police warned the route would be closed "for some time".

Details of the circumstances have not yet been released.
