Catterick Garrison: Investigation launched into soldier's death

An investigation has been launched after the death of a soldier at an Army base in North Yorkshire.

In a statement, an Army spokesperson said: "We can confirm the death of a soldier on 5 February.

"The circumstances surrounding this death are being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.

"Our thoughts are with the soldier's family and friends," the spokesperson added.

British soldiers face dismissal over positive drugs tests

The Army tells the BBC "substance abuse is unacceptable" after 23 soldiers from the same regiment failed compulsory drug testing.

The large artworks are planned for Catterick Garrison as part of a major redevelopment scheme.

The project will see a new civic square for events and festivals and a community hub created.

Pte Harry Johnson, who wanted to join the Parachute Regiment, died after a training exercise.

Residents in Richmond are told more people will have to use the pool to ensure its sustainability.
