An explosion of cherry blossom is being celebrated this spring at Swindon's fourth annual blossom festival.

Launched in 2021, the festival centres around the brief but spectacular cherry blossom blooms at the Town Gardens.

The festival, which runs from 20 to 28 April, will include story time under the blossom, yoga in the park and a build-a-bug-hotel event.

Fran Tucker, festival founder, said: "When the blossom is in full bloom it takes your breath away."

In a recent study, more than 28,000 Google searches were recorded for "Swindon Town Park Cherry Blossom" last year.

Ms Tucker, said visitors are drawn to Swindon's Town Gardens because of the "beautiful pathway through the cherry blossoms".

"The trees are in tip-top condition and they're very mature," she said.

"And it's the wonderful pathways you get through these trees that make it spectacular to look at.

"[The festival has] been so successful that South Swindon Parish Council and the National Trust have expanded this across Swindon so it is now a Swindon-wide festival."
