Traffic on Exeter Street has been affected by the works, as temporary lights were installed

Work to repair a road affected by a gas leak in Salisbury should be completed soon, according to Wiltshire Council.

Exeter Street was partially closed on 12 January and some properties were evacuated after the leak was found, leading to delays for drivers.

"[Gas company] SGN is hoping to finish all work on site by tomorrow," said councillor Caroline Thomas.

"This is dependent on there being zero gas readings, so it may take extra time.

"For the safety of residents in the area, SGN cannot reinstate the road until gas readings are at safe levels.

"We have been liaising regularly with SGN about this work, and getting it finished quickly and safely is a priority for them, and the traffic lights will be removed as soon as it is safe to do so," she said.
