Hundreds watch Ipswich Christmas lights switch-on

Hundreds of people gathered in the centre of Ipswich on Thursday to watch the Christmas lights switched on.

The mayor of Ipswich, Lynne Mortimer, turned on the lights on the Cornhill, Tavern Street, Westgate Street and Lloyds Avenue.

A drive through event for blue badge holders will take place on Sunday 3 December.

Ipswich Borough Council thanked hosts Sarah Lilley and Wayne Bavin and the cast of Sleeping Beauty.

The cast of Sleeping Beauty also appeared

The centre piece of the Cornhill is again a real Christmas tree.

The town had previously split opinion with a tree made of baubles, but this is now located on the waterfront each year.
