A road has been closed after it collapsed underneath a bin lorry.

The vehicle became stuck on Fairfield Hill, Stowmarket, after the road collapsed under its rear wheel at about 07:30 GMT.

A spokesperson for Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils said: "A recovery team were quickly on the scene."

Suffolk Highways said an emergency closure was in place while Anglian Water investigated.

The lorry, which carries the name Beauty and the Bin, and its crew have since continued their round, but the road remained closed for further investigation and repair.
