The Met Police said the boy had been transferred to a police station in London where he was being questionned.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course and the force said it was retaining an "open mind" as to the motive.

It has yet to release details of the victim's identity although next of kin has been informed.

Det Ch Insp Dave Blair said: "Our investigation is gathering pace but though we have made our second arrest, we still want to hear from anyone who has information relating to this horrific loss of a young life."
