NEMM.co.ukHuman bones have been found on a building site where retirement housing is being developed.
Construction has been suspended at the site in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, following the discovery at about 15:30 BST on Thursday.
Details on how old the bones are and how long they have been there have not yet been released.
Developer McCarthy & Stone said it was co-operating with the police while the investigation is ongoing.

A cordon is in place on Scalford Road and the remains are being examined.
Det Insp Tim Lindley, of Leicestershire Police, said the bones were not being linked to any current investigations "at this stage".
"Work is now being carried out to determine the length of time they have been in the ground," he said.
"Inquiries are in the very early stages and it will be a lengthy process to establish the full circumstances of this finding."
