A husband has admitted murdering his wife at their home on Christmas Day.

Parwin Quriashi, 19, was found dead in the kitchen of a flat in Kentish Court, London Road, Maidstone, at about 14:35 GMT on 25 December.

Kent Police said she had suffered "38 separate knife wounds".

Mohammad Qoraishi, 27, pleaded guilty to her murder during a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court earlier and was remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced on 3 June.

A kitchen knife was found at the scene of the killing, while Qoraishi was arrested that afternoon after his Audi A3 was spotted by police travelling on the A2 towards Dover.

Traces of blood were found on his clothing.

Speaking outside court, Det Ch Insp Ivan Beasley said: "This was an unprovoked and savage attack on a defenceless young woman.

"Her tragic death at the hands of her husband has left a family mourning her loss."
