A stretch of the A63 near Hull has fully reopened after a lorry carrying a forklift truck hit a bridge, police have said.

The route was closed between Brough and South Cave in both directions, along with Dale Road in Elloughton, after the incident at about 09:15 GMT.

Officials earlier reported that the eastbound carriageway had reopened.

In a later statement, a National Highways spokesperson said both lanes had reopened.

The Dale Road bridge over the A63 remains closed while engineers assess the damage.
