A driver got stuck in deep water somewhere that the police described as "close to the B1256 and A120 junctions"

A driver who ended up in deep water said he was following his "trusted" sat-nav.

Essex Police found the car almost completely submerged in water at Great Dunmow near one of the A120 junctions on Saturday evening.

The man was able to get out of the car on his own and seek help.

In a Facebook post, Uttlesford district officers said the man told them that he trusted the directions his satellite navigation system was giving him.

The police post said: "Sat-navs are rarely wrong, but they aren't perfect - please ensure you check your route is suitable and if something doesn't seem right, check again!"

People replying to the post said it looked like the car had been driven down a track called Flitch Way, leading to the River Chelmer.
