Essex Police catch up with stolen car 12 minutes after 999 call
Essex PolicePolice caught up with a stolen car and made an arrest 12 minutes after receiving the initial 999 call.
Essex Police's control room received a report at 00:49 BST of a suspected stolen Audi from Argyll Road, Westcliff-on-Sea.
Officers were dispatched and were close behind the car at 00:51, before it made off at speed.
A 10-minute pursuit resulted in the car losing control before crashing into a lamp post in Rayleigh High Street.
The vehicle was recovered and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and failing to stop for officers at 01:00.
