Jurassic Coast landslide was 'like disaster movie', says Lulworth Cove beachgoer
A beachgoer has said the moment a landslide occurred at a popular tourist destination was "like a disaster movie".
Lisa Rickman, 52, was walking her dogs on the beach with her husband and daughter, when a section of cliff collapsed at Dorset's Lulworth Cove at about 13:30 GMT on Sunday.
No-one was injured but onlookers described cracks gradually appearing in the cliff before the "dramatic" landslide.
Mrs Rickman, who captured the fall on video, said: “It was a little bit frightening and shocking.
“I love photography and I was taking lots of photos when suddenly we heard a noise like thunder and boulders started cascading and tumbling down, and crashing into the sea.
“It’s sad to see what has happened. It’s a beautiful spot but that side of the cove is now completely blocked by a massive pile of rocks.
“I did think we are pretty much in awe of nature. You never really know what will happen. You go out for a quiet walk than then that happens.
“If someone had been there they could have been killed.”
This collapse follows a major landslip at the same part of the Jurassic coast earlier this year, which occurred after days of heavy rainfall.
