Kayakers rescued off South Devon coast

Two men have been rescued from the water off the South Devon coast.

Salcombe RNLI said they were alerted to two men in kayaks in distress at about 10:30 GMT off the coast of Burgh Island.

Salcombe RNLI, Hope Cove lifeboat and coastguard rescue teams from Bigbury, Kingsbridge, and Yealm were sent to the scene to conduct a search.

Both men were recovered from the water and passed into the care of South Western Ambulance Service.

Rare whale likely died of head trauma, tests show

The "very rare" Pygmy Sperm Whale was found washed ashore on a Devon beach.

Devon Wildlife Trust says a pygmy sperm whale was found dead at Bigbury on Sea on Monday.

The centuries-old bells had been unsafe to ring for 20 years but have now been refurbished.

It follows concerns from local residents about pollution and navigational hazards from six boats.

The emergency vehicle was found perched on a hedge near St Ann's Chapel.
