A man has been arrested after a car being followed by police crashed, killing a passenger.

The Vauxhall Corsa hit a wall by the A6 London Road in Alvaston, Derby, late on Monday.

A 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The dead man has been named as Jacob Morton, aged 27 and from Derby.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it was liaising with Mr Morton's family.

The IPCC said it had also obtained footage from the police car involved and an "initial account" from the officer.

The crash resulted in the garden wall of a house being destroyed.
