Truro electric bike rider, 18, seriously injured in crash

An 18-year-old electric bike rider has been seriously injured after a crash involving a car, police have said.

The incident happened at the junction of Upland Crescent and Beechwood Gardens in Truro at about 15:00 GMT on Tuesday,Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The rider was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after it emerged his injuries were "more serious" than first thought.

The 61-year-old driver of the car has assisted police with their inquiries.

The rider's next of kin have been informed and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
