Puppies rescued in Willingham travellers' site raid
Cambs PoliceMore than 100 puppies and dogs have been seized in a raid at a travellers' site.
The animals were discovered at an unauthorised encampment in Willingham, Cambridgeshire, on Tuesday and are being looked after by the RSPCA.
Officers also found a number of suspected stolen quad and dirt bikes, a horse trailer, caravan and vehicles.
Five arrests were made. Three males were released under investigation. Two females will face no further action.
Cambridgeshire Police said RSPCA officers and vets examined the 102 dogs at the Black Pit Drove site before removing them.
They believe many of the animals were bred at the site, although a police spokesman said: "A small number were microchipped and the RSPCA is now in the process of contacting the owners."
Cambs PoliceAn RSPCA spokeswoman added: "Most of these dogs are young, under the age of two, or puppies - and predominantly small breeds."
Both the RSPCA and the force have asked those with missing dogs not to inundate them with phone calls.
