Festive snow dogs arrive in Birmingham city centre

Snow dogs have appeared in Birmingham to bring some festive cheer while raising money for charity.

The 10 Christmassy sculptures form a trail created by Wild in Art in partnership with Central BID Birmingham.

Each dog has been decorated by artists and will help raise funds for the Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.

The locations include Bullring and Grand Central, The Mailbox and Great Western Arcade.

The trail was inspired by the sequel to Raymond Briggs's The Snowman - The Snowman and the Snowdog.

Sam Watson, chair of Central BID, said: "Families travel from across the Midlands to enjoy our annual Christmas trails and support Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity through donations.

"This year's Snowdogs trail will be just as special and we're looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors to the city centre to enjoy the trail and our great shopping, dining and attractions, which will make Birmingham city centre a fabulous place to be this Christmas."

The location of each snow dog can be found on the Christmas in Birmingham map, which is available in city centre stores, coffee shops and the library, plus Bullring customer services and other Christmas attractions.

Hidden letters have been placed at the base of each statue and visitors who unscramble a 10-letter word will be in with a chance of wining a £100 city centre dining voucher.

People who share their snow dog snaps on Instagram also stand a chance of winning £50 weekly city centre shopping vouchers.

The trail will be in place until 4 January.
