Solihull stabbing: Man died after knifing in town centre

A 21-year-old man has died after being stabbed in the early hours near a town centre nightclub.

He died after being taken to hospital from the scene in Poplar Road, Solihull, at about 03:00 GMT.

West Midland Police said extensive CCTV inquiries were ongoing and the scene, close to the Popworld club, has been cordoned off by forensic teams.

The victim's family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Det Chief Insp Jim Munro, from the force's homicide team, said: "A man has sadly lost his life at the hands of a knife and we are now working to establish exactly why this happened.

"This would have been a busy time in Solihull. Many people would have been leaving bars and clubs, so we are appealing for anyone with information, who has not already spoken to us to come forward."

Det Chief Insp Munro called on taxi drivers and other motorists to provide any dashcam footage at the time of the incident.
