The Chesil Little Tern Recovery Project says more than 39 chicks fledged on Chesil Beach this summer.

Two roseate tern chicks hatch following conservation efforts at a coastal nature reserve.

"The numbers follow an improving year-on-year trend," says Durham Wildlife Trust's warden.

Both birds were spotted near or on an island off the Northumberland coast.
