Comedian Auvab Pal says many have "moved on from the empire" in India.

It's now largely forgotten that in the early 1900s, nearly a third of the Arabian Peninsula was under British India.

The monument was constructed in 1834, a years after slavery was abolished across the British Empire.

The display includes letters from the early American colonist John Winthrop, organisers says.

Some of the royal artefacts were stolen by British colonisers during the 19th Century Anglo-Ashanti war.
